Day 8.jpg

Some good advice from the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM)

• if you cannot see clearly use dipped headlights

• you should only use front and rear fog lights in fog where visibility is 100 metres or less

• use the windscreen wipers and washers as you need them

• drive so that you can always stop in the distance you can see to be clear in front of you

• check your speedo – it’s easy to go too fast

• do not accelerate to get away from a vehicle which is following too closely

• brake early and gently so that your brake lights warn drivers

• at junctions wind the window down and listen for traffic

• fog varies in thickness – don’t be caught out by a change in density

Remember: Don’t rush this Christmas, take your time and get to your destination safely!

12 Days of Christmas from C&G Services – Yuletide Safety Tips – No.4

Top safety tips from C&G Services

On the fourth day of Christmas, the tip from C&G……………………..

4th DayThe office party…………..

It’s great to unwind after a long year at work but take a minute to think about the effects of alcohol on your ability to drive safely. Many of the functions that we depend on to drive safely are affected when we drink alcohol:

•             the brain takes longer to receive messages from the eye

•             processing information becomes more difficult

•             instructions to the body’s muscles are delayed resulting in slower reaction times.

You can also experience blurred and double vision, which affects your ability to see things clearly while you are driving. And you’re more likely to take potentially dangerous risks because you can act on urges you normally repress.

There is no safe limit to the amount of alcohol you can drink and still be able to drive safely.

Have fun at the party, but Don’t Drink and Drive this Xmas, share a lift, get a taxi stay over, but just leave the car keys at home!
